Masoor Dal Makhani

Pulses are a highly nutritious food group comprising beans, peas and lentils. All pulses, except for soya beans, are very similar in nutritional content.
Pulses are usually eaten for their high protein content and according to the nutritional chart provided by doctorndtv, soyabeans per 100g, contain 43.2g of protein and after soyabean it is masoor dal with a high protein content, containing about 25.1g protein per 100g of the dal.
This is my entry for the event JFI-July,Jihva for Dals, hosted by Sailaja.

Hi Sumitha, I did not know one could make dal makhani without black urad... only one hour soaking means I can make it spontaneously!

"Makhani", then, perhaps refers to the kind of seasoning or method of cooking? Thanks so much for the recipe.

Hey Sumitha,
That was an interesting variation of the traditional dal makhni, cooked with masoor dal instead of the regular whole black urad dal. I suggest you take a peek at our book,”Cooking at home with Pedatha”, which also has a wide array of interesting dal recipies!
I completely identify with your fetish for curry leaves. I too am a curry leaf freak. The aroma a dish exudes when tempered generously with curry leaves, is absolutely fantastic! Your crispy curry leaf chicken fry recipe also appears very endearing.
