Paneer Butter Masala

This is one dish I am never tired of ordering, when we go to a restaurant!But as i discovered lately it is also an easy dish to make at home,eventhough the huge list of ingredients required may dampen your spirits to prepare it.
But just go through the list,most of the ingredients are already there in our kitchen shelves and all we have to do is just add it!Preparation time is very less.So below is the recipe....
Ingredients

Paneer(cut into cubes) = 1cup
Butter = 2tbsp
Onion paste= 1no
Tomato puree = 3tbsp
Ginger-Garlic paste = 1tbsp
Bay leaf = 2
Cinnamon = 1inch
Cloves = 2
Cardamom = 2
Kasuri methi = 1/2tsp
Poppy seeds = 1/2tsp
Cumin =1/2tsp
Chilli powder = 1tsp
Turmeric powder = 1/4tsp
Coriander powder = 1&1/4tsp
Garam masala = 1&1/2tsp
Sugar = 1tsp
Salt = to taste
Cashewnuts = 4
Coriander leaves = to garnish
Cream = to garnish

Method
Soak the cashewnuts in warm water and when soft grind to a paste
Shallow fry the panner cubes in oil or butter till light golden on all sides and soak in cold water
Heat 1tbsp butter and fry cinnamon,cloves,bay leaves,cumin and crushed cardomom for a few seconds
Add the ginger garlic and onion paste and fry till brown
Add the chilli powder,coriander powder ,turmeric,garam masala powder and kasuri methi,poppy seeds and fry
Then add the tomato puree,cashew paste,salt and sugar
Add water to thin the gravy to your choice and allow it to simmer over medium heat till the oil rises to the top
Add the drained paneer cubes,1tbsp butter and garnish with cream and finely chopped coriander leaves
Let it cook for 3-5 mins

Serve hot with chapathi,naan,kulcha,puri,rice...

We had this at home along with Kulcha,the recipe of which is from ndtvcooks,the recipe of which I shall post next in my blog.
I am not sure whether it tasted like the Kulcha we get in India,but it was a different type of roti,try it for a change!

You know..this is my quandary,out here in Toronto, we live in a small apt. and I really do NOT have space for one of those mixies...so, what on earth do you guys use to grind pastes in ? the Osterizers and blenders really dont cut it...does a food process work in grinding things to a nice paste. I use a coffee grinder for my powders.
Faced with a similar problem Veena,I bought a Sumeet mixie from India on my last visit!
